Overview

Founded in 1930, Dresslier & Company Pty Ltd is an Australian professional haircare and cosmetics manufacturer based in Newton/Adelaide, South Australia. The company manufactures and distributes its products across more than 50 countries, with an international entity in Italy supporting its European operations.

Dresslier’s portfolio includes Davroe, Daily Naturals, Colour State, and DunGüd, alongside manufacturing for numerous private-label brands. Over the years, the company has continued to expand its manufacturing operations and private-label business.

Before implementing eWorkplace Apps Quality Management Suite, Dresslier’s quality control processes were managed through a separate third-party system rather than being integrated with its ERP. This resulted in duplicate data entry, separate tracking of quality activities, and significant manual effort in generating Certificates of Analysis (COAs).

With eWorkplace Apps QMS integrated with MYOB Acumatica, Dresslier has brought quality activities directly into its ERP workflow. Quality data can now be recorded as production activities take place, QC orders can be generated directly through the process, and COAs can be produced using the data already captured in the system.

"I think the pure fact that it is integrated directly with MYOB Acumatica, that is a big thing for us. So that has been a big help."

Real stories from our customers

Disconnected Quality Control Processes

Before QMS, Dresslier managed quality control through a separate third-party system that was not integrated with its ERP. Production runs, bench testing, new product development activities, and raw-material quality checks were all recorded outside the ERP. "Every time a production run was complete, or even a bench test where we're doing some alternative testing at the bench level, new product development, all that, that was all recorded through a separate system," says Michael.

Duplicate Data Entry and Manual Tracking

Because quality activities were managed separately, the team had to enter information more than once and create a new card or ticket outside the ERP for each activity. "So for us it was double entering everything. So we had to create a new card or a new ticket outside MYOB every time it was done," says Michael.

Time-Consuming COA Generation

Generating Certificates of Analysis for completed production runs was another highly manual activity. "COAs was a big thing. So certificate of analysis, trying to generate them simply on a Word document every time a production run was complete, that was another thing as well that just chewed up a lot of man hours," says Michael.

Integrated Quality Management within MYOB Acumatica

With eWorkplace Apps QMS, Dresslier moved quality activities into an integrated workflow, allowing the team to record quality data directly within the QMS as production activities take place.

The integration eliminated the need to manage quality activities separately and reduced duplicate data entry across the quality and ERP processes. "We can just do it all at once. We also don't need to do the double entry into MYOB anymore, it's from the start as we're doing the recordings, it's straight into the QMS," says Michael.

Streamlined Quality Data Capture

For every completed batch, Dresslier records key quality measurements that can now be captured directly in QMS as the testing takes place.

"So, you know, every time a batch is complete, our main things we've got to measure are pH, viscosity and density. So now it's a case of while that's getting done, it's entered into the QMS straight away and that generates our QC order. We don't need to go onto our third-party system and operate that way. We can just do it all at once,” says Michael.

One-Click COA Generation

One of the most significant improvements for Dresslier has been the ability to generate Certificates of Analysis directly from the quality data already recorded in QMS.

"The data is already there for us; we can generate the COA report with a click of a button."

The automated COA process is particularly valuable for Dresslier's international distribution operations, where Certificates of Analysis are frequently required for individual batches. "So that's deleted a lot of the man hours that we've had to put aside. We're very happy with the COA generation," says Michael.

Stronger Quality Checks for Incoming Ingredients

QMS has also helped Dresslier ensure that required quality checks are completed when ingredients are received. By prompting the team to perform the required checks, QMS helps ensure that ingredients are appropriately reviewed before being used in production.

"It has brought our attention more so to ensuring that the product is ready to be used. So it is prompting our team for those quality control checks, which we are very happy for," says Michael.

Adaptable Implementation for Dresslier's Requirements

Dresslier also valued the eWorkplace Apps team's willingness to adapt the solution to its specific business requirements. The ability to accommodate Dresslier's requirements helped create an implementation that aligned with the company's quality processes.

  • Integrated quality management within MYOB Acumatica
  • Reduced duplicate data entry across quality and ERP processes
  • Direct capture of production quality measurements
  • Streamlined QC order generation
  • One-click COA generation
  • Reduced manual effort associated with COA preparation
  • More consistent quality checks for incoming ingredients
  • Greater efficiency for internationally distributed products requiring COAs
  • Adaptability to Dresslier's specific business requirements
  • Strong implementation and customer support experience

"The fact that the COAs can automatically be generated is probably the number one thing, especially dealing with our international distributors who require a COA for almost every batch, that has become very helpful."

Challenges

Paper-Based and Spreadsheet-Driven Operations

Manufacturing, quality checks, and traceability were managed manually through paper documents and spreadsheets, resulting in heavy labor effort and limited visibility. “The biggest issue we had previously is we were on paper and just based off of spreadsheets. There was a lot of manual labour and effort involved in that,” says Jeff.

Manual and Time-Consuming Recall Testing

“Trying to do recall testing was quite manual. It involved referring back to paper records and spreadsheets and trying to piece together traceability,” says Jeff.

Traceability and mock recall exercises required searching through paper files and spreadsheets, making the process slow and inefficient.

Complex Recipe Adjustments Due to Butterfat Variability

As a dairy processor, butterfat levels in milk and cream fluctuate naturally. Recipes must be dynamically adjusted to maintain consistent product quality.

“Our recipes are essentially the same formula, but the inputs vary due to butterfat levels. eWorkplace helps us adjust those recipes dynamically based on butterfat levels,” says Jeff.

Limited Lot Control and Expiration Visibility

With short shelf lives inherent to dairy products, managing lot assignments and expiration dates required stronger system controls.

Digitally Integrated Process Manufacturing

By implementing Acumatica with eWorkplace Apps Process Manufacturing & Quality Management Solution, Royal Crest Dairy digitized its manufacturing operations, bill of materials (BOM) calculations, and lot assignments. “With the move to Acumatica, we went digital, and eWorkplace Apps was instrumental in enabling that on the manufacturing side,” Jeff Hunter.

Material usage calculations are now automated within the ERP, and suggested materials are generated directly from defined BOMs. “The calculating of material usage in our BOMs was quite manual before. Now we have those calculations made within Acumatica itself,” says Jeff.

Automated Traceability & Lot Assignment

The company now benefits from automated lot tracking and significantly improved recall readiness. “Traceability is much improved with eWorkplace where it’s all digital and automated,” Jeff Hunter.

Embedded Quality with Flexible Trigger Points

Quality controls are integrated across receiving, production, and batch processing, with configurable mandatory or optional tests.

“The flexibility with quality is really helpful — whether tests are mandatory or not, and the different trigger points during receiving or production,” says Jeff.

Quality checks ensure bacterial safety, correct mix formulations, and compliance at every stage.

Super Batches for Multi-SKU Production

Royal Crest Dairy produces many SKUs from a single parent batch. The Super Batch functionality enables efficient management of these relationships.

“Super batches is a really helpful feature for us. We have many SKUs produced off the same parent batch,” says Jeff.

Collaborative Implementation & Ongoing Support

Beyond technology, the eWorkplace Apps’ approach was a key factor in success. “The eWorkplace team was great to work with. They were willing to seek to understand our needs and made an onsite visit to configure the system the best way for us. They were very supportive, flexible, and willing to adjust to help us achieve our desired solution,” Jeff Hunter.

  • Full transition from paper-based manufacturing to digital ERP-driven processes
  • Automated BOM calculations and material suggestions
  • Dynamic recipe adjustments based on butterfat levels
  • Automated lot assignment and improved recall testing
  • Stronger quality controls embedded at multiple production trigger points
  • Greater visibility through dashboards and reporting
  • Improved accountability across departments
  • Better management of short shelf-life dairy products

“Being on an ERP now brings greater accountability between departments. We know who’s transacting what, and there’s more visibility to the data,” says Jeff.

Implementation & Support

For Dresslier, the value of the QMS implementation extended beyond the software itself. Michael highlighted the responsiveness, patience, training, and follow-up provided by the eWorkplace Apps team throughout the implementation.

10 out of 10 recommendation and the main reason why is…Over the months to implement this system, the team has been very patient, especially towards our end, to actually get this up and running.” Says Michael

The implementation team maintained consistent follow-up and ensured that Dresslier’s team understood the system before completing the implementation. “They made sure that we walked through certain things, made sure we covered all aspects of it before we actually went ahead and signed off.” Says Michael

Michael also emphasized the quality of the overall implementation experience compared with other systems implemented within the company.

"Of all the systems that we've actually had to implement, and this is across many other apps through MYOB or it could be through the warehouse, it hasn't been a smoother process than it has been with eWorkplace Apps."
